There is a fascinating horse panel in the cave of Pech Merle in France.

Where:
The cave is located in southwest France

Panel Images:
There are two horses facing in opposite directions and many other markings – including black and red dots and hand stencils

Meaning:
The meaning of the images is unknown

Interesting Rock Formation:
Part of the rock is in the shape of a horse’s head (see sketch top right)

Date of Images:
The images may date from about 25,000 BC
